Today, the Trident Naval Task Force (TNTF) celebrated the graduation of 26 new members who successfully completed a rigorous training course conducted by U.S. Navy SEALs. Ms. Naomi Fellows, Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy, and Admiral René Francis Merino Monroy, Minister of Defense of El Salvador, presided over the ceremony.

For six months, the Navy SEALs trained the recruits in skills necessary to join the Trident group and work to combat illicit drug trafficking at sea. Of the initial 30 applicants, 26 successfully completed the demanding program, which required physical exertion, equipment handling, and operational development skills. They also improved their ability to survive at sea and respond to medical emergencies, strengthening their resilience.

“The relationship between the Tridents and the Navy SEALs is a partnership built on mutual respect, professionalism, and a shared goal: protecting our nations and our citizens. This graduation is a clear symbol of that partnership, but it also demonstrates how the United States and El Salvador fulfill their commitments to one another”, Ms. Fellows said during the graduation ceremony.

As the United States commemorates 250 years of independence, this cooperation reflects a shared commitment to security, stability, and practical solutions that deliver results. The collaboration between the Tridents and the Navy SEALs unites us as security partners. A prime example is the Tridents’ recent seizure of 6.6 metric tons of cocaine on february 15, an achievement that this type of specialized training will allow us to replicate and surpass in the future.
