The power grid supplying the capital’s Financial District and other parts of its metropolitan area underwent an upgrade to reinforce infrastructure and improve operating conditions.
The utility company AES CAESS replaced 8.8 kilometers of bare conductor with semi-insulated cable, a project that will benefit more than 70,000 users.
The work was carried out in an area characterized by high electricity demand, where distribution infrastructure faces greater operational demands. Replacing the conductor aims to reduce equipment exposure to conditions that can cause high currents and to contribute to more stable grid operation.

Using semi-insulated cables also provides infrastructure with better protection against external factors that can affect distribution network performance, particularly in high-density urban areas.
This project is part of the modernization and maintenance work AES CAESS is carrying out on San Salvador’s power grid. These efforts aim to ensure supply continuity and protect the equipment involved in the energy distribution process.

Beyond the direct impact on users connected to the affected circuits, strengthening the grid aims to improve responsiveness to the demands of an area where commercial, financial, residential, and service activities converge.
