The Banco de Desarrollo de América Latina y el Caribe (CAF) has begun construction of its new building in El Salvador, located in Urbanización Maquilishuat, in Calle and Colonia La Mascota. The project, which covers a plot of 2,000 square meters and will have a construction of 10,768.55 square meters, will be much more than a corporate headquarters. This space will become a meeting point for cultural, educational, and recreational activities, strengthening CAF’s commitment to sustainable development and regional integration.
The building will be designed to promote cultural exchange and community development. It will also be LEED certified, ensuring its energy efficiency and environmental friendliness. In the words of Sergio Diaz-Granados, CAF’s executive president, this project symbolizes the institution’s commitment to the modernization and sustainability of El Salvador, positioning it as a model for the region.
The building will integrate semi-public areas, corporate offices and cultural spaces. The first level will include an entrance plaza, permanent exhibition areas, a coffee shop and green spaces. The second level will house traveling exhibitions and an auditorium for 150 people. The upper levels will be for corporate offices, while the fifth level will have a high-capacity meeting room and a rooftop with panoramic views, ideal for strategic events.
This project was presented at CAF’s Board of Directors meeting in El Salvador, where US$2.478 million was approved for projects in 10 countries in the region. These funds will be used for initiatives that promote resilient infrastructure, energy transition, urban mobility, environmental sustainability, and water and sanitation systems.
El Salvador, with its strategic location in Central America, consolidates its position as a key partner for CAF in its mission to promote integration and sustainable development. This building reinforces the country’s positioning as a hub of innovation and sustainability, aligned with CAF’s objectives for the region.
With this project, CAF not only expands its presence in El Salvador, but also contributes to the strengthening of regional cooperation, demonstrating its commitment to a more dynamic, integrated and sustainable future for Latin America and the Caribbean.
