The government is moving forward with preparations for the upcoming corn planting season and strengthening livestock production as part of the Production Increase Program, a strategy aimed at reinforcing food security and improving the productivity of the agricultural sector in the country.
The Vice Minister Ad-Honorem of the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG), Óscar Domínguez, reported that thousands of acres of land are currently being prepared for corn planting in the coming days, using high-quality genetic seed characterized by its higher yield and resistance to adverse weather conditions such as drought, as well as its tolerance to diseases that commonly affect crops.
According to the official, this advance plan seeks to ensure better results in agricultural production, reducing risks associated with weather factors and increasing the productivity of the small and medium-sized farmers participating in the program.

In parallel, the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG), is also implementing actions to strengthen livestock production, especially those production units that supply milk to the dairy chain sold in the AgroMercados of the eastern region of the country. The goal is to guarantee a constant and high-quality supply for both producers and consumers.
Domínguez explained that this effort is being carried out in a coordinated manner across different components of the program. Organized farmers have access to agricultural inputs at cost through AGROCENTA, which allows them to significantly reduce production expenses. On the other hand, the Production Increase Program complements this support by providing high-quality genetic seed to improve crop yields.
This coordination seeks to strengthen the entire production chain, from soil preparation and planting to the marketing of agricultural and dairy products in local markets.

The government of President Nayib Bukele, the Vice Minister emphasized, maintains a proactive strategy to ensure the country’s agricultural production and contribute to the stability of the food supply. This approach, he stated, allows for greater support for producers and progress towards greater self-sufficiency in the production of basic grains and dairy products.
With these actions, the agricultural sector continues to be a priority area within economic development policies, focused on strengthening national production, improving competitiveness, and guaranteeing access to food for the population.
