El Salvador’s coffee sector continues to show clear signs of recovery and dynamism in international markets. During february 2016, coffee exports registered a remarkable growth of 137.6%, according to official data shared by the Honorary Vice Minister of the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería, Oscar Domínguez.
This increase represents one of the most significant advances in recent years for salvadoran coffee farming, a historically key sector for the national economy. In monetary terms, exports reached US$54.4 million in total sales, representing an increase of US$31.2 million compared to the same period in 2025.

According to authorities, these results are linked to the coordinated work of the Instituto Salvadoreño del Café, as well as improved conditions in the international market, where salvadoran coffee has gained greater recognition for its quality. Furthermore, factors such as the recovery of production, improved technical management on farms, and a focus on higher-value varieties have contributed to this performance.
Vice Minister Domínguez highlighted that these results reflect the impact of the strategies implemented by the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería, aimed at strengthening the coffee production chain, from cultivation to export. He also emphasized that this growth is a positive sign for producers, who have faced challenges in previous years due to climatic and economic factors.

The performance observed in february confirms an upward trend in the sector, once again positioning salvadoran coffee as a globally competitive product. This rebound not only boosts exports but also generates opportunities for rural employment and the development of coffee-growing communities.
With these results, the country reaffirms its potential in the international market, consolidating coffee as one of the strategic pillars of the salvadoran agricultural economy.
