The Comisión Nacional de la Micro y Pequeña Empresa (CONAMYPE), in coordination with the Corporación Salvadoreña de Turismo (Corsatur), launched the Tourism MSME 2026 program, an initiative aimed at strengthening the capabilities of micro and small enterprises linked to the tourism sector.
The program includes comprehensive support for MSMEs to incorporate new knowledge and business tools into their operations. One of the main components will be the adoption of innovative technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), as a resource to improve and diversify their services.
CONAMYPE President Paul Steiner explained that artificial intelligence and digital transformation were selected as the central themes of World Tourism Day 2026. He noted that, although technology plays an increasingly important role in tourism, the visitor experience continues to depend on the treatment and attention they receive.

“Available technology must be a key tool to make that great experience possible for tourists”, explained Steiner, emphasizing the importance of using these tools to complement the service provided by tourism businesses.
The training is taking place from september 23 to 25, as part of the official activities for World Tourism Day 2026. The goal is for micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in the sector to be able to respond to the demands of the international market and work under quality standards comparable to those of countries with extensive tourism experience.
During the training, the growth of artificial intelligence in the business sector was also presented. Trainer Jaime Carías indicated that currently 23% are increasing their use of artificial intelligence and that 85% of those who make decisions about technology investments will increase their budget allocated to this area.

The plan includes a phased implementation, encompassing training, the incorporation of technological tools into businesses, and the leveraging of artificial intelligence. CONAMYPE also highlighted that some Salvadoran MSEs have already made progress in developing their own digital services.
With MYPE Turística 2026, CONAMYPE and Corsatur aim to equip small businesses in the tourism sector with tools that will allow them to enhance and diversify the national tourism offerings, strengthen their business capabilities, and respond to a market where technology is becoming increasingly important.
