Financial education has become an essential tool for preparing new generations for the challenges of an increasingly digital economy. With this vision, Banco Central de Reserva de El Salvador (BCR) has been promoting the “Mi Viaje Financiero”, program since may 2024, an innovative initiative that seeks to bring financial knowledge to children and young people through interactive experiences and cutting-edge technology.
The results achieved reflect the impact of this effort nationwide. Since its launch, the project has benefited 67,407 salvadoran children and young people, of whom 34,647 are girls and 32,760 are boys. In 2026 alone, the program reached 20,584 participants, distributed among 10,635 girls and 9,949 boys.
Furthermore, the initiative has achieved broad territorial coverage, reaching 291 educational centers and parks located in 113 districts across the country. This outreach has allowed students from different areas, especially in rural communities, to access tools and knowledge that strengthen their ability to navigate today’s financial world.

The project is delivered via a modern educational bus, 12.5 meters long and 4.5 meters wide, designed as a dynamic and immersive learning space. Inside, participants find interactive stations, simulators, multimedia resources, and virtual reality experiences that transform financial education into a practical and engaging activity.
Through this experience, young people between the ages of 13 and 18 learn about the responsible use of digital financial products and services. Topics covered include electronic transfers using Transfer365, payments with POS terminals, the use of NPE, and digital wallets. The tour also incorporates technological tools that allow participants to explore different tourist destinations in El Salvador, combining financial education with innovation and culture.
The “Mi Viaje Financiero”, tour began in the western part of the country and later expanded nationwide. Municipalities such as El Refugio, Juayúa, Atiquizaya, Santa Rosa de Lima, Pasaquina, and Conchagua are among the towns visited by the program, which has brought learning opportunities directly to the communities.

Beyond teaching basic concepts about money, saving, and payment methods, the project aims to foster responsible financial habits from an early age. Understanding how digital financial services work, recognizing their usefulness, and using them safely are increasingly necessary skills for the personal and economic development of new generations.
With “Mi Viaje Financiero”, the BCR reaffirms its commitment to promoting an inclusive and accessible financial culture, bringing knowledge to thousands of students and helping to create citizens better prepared to make informed financial decisions throughout their lives.
