Grupo Piñero, one of Spain’s leading tourism corporations, expressed interest in investing in El Salvador after meeting with the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adriana Mira, to learn firsthand about the opportunities the country offers for developing tourism infrastructure projects.
During the meeting, Francisco Albertí, Director of Development and Expansion for the Grupo Piñero, said that the company seeks to expand its presence in new markets and believes that El Salvador offers favorable conditions for future investments. He noted that the country stands out for the growth experienced by the tourism sector and for its secure and stable environment, factors that influence the company’s investment decisions.
Founded in 1977, the Grupo Piñerohas operations in Spain, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Mexico. Its business model integrates hotels, real estate developments, golf courses, destination management companies, tourist transportation services, and travel experiences, making it a leading player in the international tourism sector.
Albertí indicated that this is the company’s first visit to El Salvador and stated that it comes at a key moment to evaluate expansion opportunities. He also highlighted that the country’s established position in the region and the growth of its tourism industry make it an attractive destination for developing new projects.
Vice Minister Adriana Mira presented the investment landscape offered by El Salvador and explained the available resources to promote productive initiatives in the tourism sector. She also emphasized the opportunities in Surf City 2, located on the eastern coast, an area that has sparked the interest of the Spanish company due to its potential for developing tourism infrastructure.
The diplomat reiterated the government’s support for foreign investors and assured them that government institutions provide assistance throughout the entire process to facilitate the establishment of new projects that contribute to economic growth and job creation.
The visit of the Grupo Piñero representative was made possible through the efforts of the Embassy of El Salvador in Spain during the Feria Internacional de Turismo (FITUR) 2026. As part of his agenda in the country, Francisco Albertí will meet with the Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, tour the Historic Center of San Salvador, and visit the Surf City circuits, in addition to meeting with representatives of the tourism and business sectors to evaluate new investment opportunities.
