The BCR report points out that the increase in january was mainly driven by the increase in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which rose from 153.4 points in december 2024 to 154.4 in january 2025. In addition, the restaurant and hotel sector also showed an increase, rising from 158.75 to 159.5 points in the same period.
Another sector that showed a slight increase was health, which went from 113.38 to 113.60 points in january. Although the increase in this sector was minimal, it contributes to the general upward trend of inflation in the country.

Some products and services showed decreases in their prices. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco registered a drop in their price index, from 173.67 points in december to 172.36 in january, which helped to moderate inflation growth in the first month of the year.
With these results, inflation in El Salvador continues to remain at low levels. The behavior of prices in the coming months will depend on factors such as the stability of international markets and domestic demand.
