The Government of El Salvador, through the Dirección General de Energía, Hidrocarburos y Minas (DGEHM), announced that Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices will increase in may 2026, driven by international factors affecting the propane market.
These factors include the stalled negotiations between the United States and Iran, risks in the Strait of Hormuz, and increased Asian demand for US propane, which has put upward pressure on international prices.

Despite this context, the targeted LPG subsidy will remain at $8.04, allowing more than one million salvadoran families to pay only $3.09 for a 25-pound cylinder.

With these measures, the Government seeks to mitigate the impact of international hydrocarbon volatility and guarantee price stability for a key input for salvadoran households.
