The Government of El Salvador, through the Instituto Salvadoreño de Turismo (ISTU), has prepared a recreational and cultural offering in 17 national parks across the country, with the goal of boosting the economy during the August holiday period. This initiative seeks to attract more than 169,000 visitors, both domestic and international, generating a direct impact on local commerce, seasonal employment, and tourism sector revenue.

ISTU President Eny Aguiñada explained that the parks are distributed across eight departments of the country and include natural, themed, and aquatic spaces, offering a diverse experience for children, youth, and adults. Among the most visited destinations are Sunset Park, Cerro Verde Natural Park, and Puerta del Diablo, which will offer special activities for visitors, encouraging consumption in the surrounding areas and supporting local entrepreneurs.
Additionally, the recent opening of the San Sebastián Tourist Terminal in San Vicente was highlighted as a new commitment to decentralizing tourism and promoting traditional crafts, such as hammock and loom making. These types of spaces strengthen local economies by attracting tourists interested in cultural and experiential tourism.

The ISTU also reaffirmed that the Los Chorros Recreational Park remains open to the public every day of the week, refuting rumors about its closure. The continued operation of this park contributes to maintaining a steady source of income for small businesses and tourism service providers in the area.
With these actions, the Salvadoran government seeks to position the country as an attractive regional destination, strengthening tourism as a key driver of the national economy. The holiday season represents an opportunity for economic recovery through domestic tourism, generating employment, commercial activity, and promoting El Salvador’s natural and cultural heritage.
