After several months of intervention, the pier of the Port of La Libertad has been reopened. With the improvement of the infrastructure, the aim is to facilitate fishing and promote trade in the coastal area.
The complete renovation includes a mechanism with a winch, which is used to pick up and adjust the boats that go out to sea or return to port. Among the most notable changes are the new asphalt and the reconstruction of the surveillance booths.
Since monday, the testing of all the work done has begun. This project seeks to make the port more attractive for tourism, with many tourists observing the vessels leaving for the high seas and returning loaded with seafood.
This work began on September 13 last year, after the port suffered serious damage from the waves. Approximately US$1.5 million was invested in these improvements.
