The president of the Cámara de Comercio e Industria de El Salvador (Camarasal), Leticia Escobar, believes that the trade and industry sectors would be the main beneficiaries in El Salvador with the development of the Centro Logístico Internacional San Jorge, presented during the launch of the Corredor Interoceánico de Guatemala, an event she attended along with representatives from the region’s business sector.
Escobar noted that activities related to logistics, transportation, and services could also benefit from greater regional connectivity and the possibility of streamlining the movement of goods between Central American countries.
During statements made at the event, the business leader emphasized that these types of projects can contribute to reducing costs and transit times, factors that ultimately impact the competitiveness of companies and the final price of products.

“These types of initiatives can help us reduce costs and transit times, which ultimately also impacts the final cost of products”, she said. The president of Camarasal stated that the new logistics center complements the existing regional infrastructure and can strengthen economic integration between Guatemala and El Salvador, El Salvador’s main regional trading partner.
She also emphasized the importance of Central America promoting itself as an economic block to attract more investment and better capitalize on international trade opportunities.
“It’s important that we market ourselves as a bloc. We are more attractive to investors in our region if we market ourselves as a bloc”, she said.

Escobar also noted that the project could help more Central American companies integrate into regional supply chains and reiterated the need to continue modernizing the region’s customs facilities to reduce wait times and improve competitiveness.
According to the business representative, initiatives like this strengthen Central America’s logistics offerings and can generate new growth opportunities for trade, industry, and services in the region.
