Reference fuel prices in El Salvador will remain unchanged during the two-week period from july 21 to august 3, 2026, the Dirección General de Energía, Hidrocarburos y Minas (DGEHM), announced. Prices for premium gasoline, regular gasoline, and diesel will remain stable despite the ongoing volatility in the international oil market.
With this update, the price of premium gasoline will be US$4.74 per gallon in the central region and US$4.75 in the western and eastern regions; regular gasoline will remain at US$4.41 in the central region and US$4.42 in the western and eastern regions, while diesel will continue at US$4.44 per gallon in all three regions of the country. All fuel prices show no change of US$0.00 compared to the previous two-week period.
The DGEHM explained that price stability is due to the timely management of national inventories, which has mitigated the impact of international factors that maintain uncertainty in the energy market.
These factors include the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East and the expansion of attacks in the Strait of Hormuz region, as well as the ongoing attacks on Russian energy infrastructure in the context of the war with Ukraine—situations that continue to influence international oil prices.
The institution noted that reference prices include current taxes, in addition to Tarifas del Servicio Público del Transporte Colectivo de Pasajeros (COTRANS), Fondo de Estabilización del Fomento Económico (FEFE) and Impuesto Especial a los Combustibles (IEC).
It also reported that it maintains ongoing inspections at service stations to verify the quantity and quality of the fuels dispensed. According to the DGEHM, these actions aim to ensure that consumers receive the exact volume they pay for and that companies comply with current regulations; otherwise, they may be subject to the corresponding penalties.
