The Government of El Salvador, through the Instituto Salvadoreño de Turismo (ISTU), is investing more than US$6 million to improve the Costa del Sol Recreational Park. These works are being executed in three phases and include the construction of two new swimming pools, the renovation of the restaurant area, the improvement of restrooms, and the intervention in the cabins area.
The President of ISTU, Eny Aguiñada, highlighted that this investment is part of the commitment to strengthen the country’s tourism offer, with the objective of attracting more visitors and positioning El Salvador as a reference destination in the region. “We are confident that these improvements will increase the influx of both domestic and international tourists”, Aguiñada said.
At the end of july, the ISTU reported an all-time record of 2.6 million visitors to the parks managed by the institution, a figure that reflects the positive impact of the improvements and the country’s renewed tourism offer. The Costa del Sol, as one of the most visited destinations, will benefit even more from the works in progress.
In addition, ISTU’s fleet of Buses Alegres has been renewed to provide more comfortable and safer transportation to salvadoran families. The new vehicles are already in operation, facilitating access to the 17 recreational centers administered by the institute, with the promise of adding more destinations in the near future.
Finally, Eny Aguiñada announced that a reservation system has been implemented for accessing the Buses Alegres, which will soon include an online purchase option, further enhancing the tourism experience for all salvadorans.
