As part of a visionary intervention of the Government of President Nayib Bukele, the Dirección de Obras Municipales initiated a plan to improve the deteriorated infrastructure, simultaneously, in more than 15 public schools nationwide.

This project is in addition to the total reconstruction of more than 60 public schools throughout the country, which is being carried out by the Central Government, the DOM and international cooperation agencies.
The remodeling of this school in the hamlet of Los Méndez, canton Varilla Negra, district of Corinto, Morazán Norte, will benefit close to 100 students from kindergarten to ninth grade.
A kindergarten classroom will be built, with its respective bathrooms, new furniture, and 5 modules comprising 7 classrooms, a kitchen area and storage rooms will also be rehabilitated.

The school will have a playground, the multipurpose room will be remodeled, there will be LED lighting, free Internet, thermo-acoustic roofing, non-slip porcelain tile in corridors and hallways, and high-traffic porcelain tile in interiors. The flagpole pavilion, drainage system and main gate will be improved.
This is the second school center that the DOM is intervening in Corinto; the first one is the Centro Educativo Doctor Arturo Romero which is being executed with IDB funds.

The DOM is rebuilding and renovating about 80 educational centers nationwide and has delivered 12. In the Eastern Zone, 3 have been delivered and 9 more are under construction, to which 4 more will be added in the next few days.
In the western part of the country, 6 have been delivered and 25 more are under construction, while 3 more will be started in the next few days.

In Corinto, progress is also being made in the execution of a 5.5 kilometer road improvement in the Varilla Negra canton that will connect with the district of Sociedad and another 3.8 kilometer project of the Plan Nacional de Bacheo to recover the urban streets of Corinto and others that connect with surrounding hamlets and cantons.
At the departmental level, the DOM is executing 84 projects, 27 of which have been completed and delivered for the well-being of the inhabitants, including more than 50 kilometers of rural and urban streets in districts such as Arambala, Cacaopera, Chilanga, El Divisadero, Meanguera, and Guatajiagua.



Also noteworthy is Phase I and II of the reconstruction of the El Mozote hamlet and three health units in El Divisadero, Yoloaiquín and Yamabal, while progress is being made in the construction of two other health centers in Sensembra and Delicias de Concepción.
