El Salvador continues to establish itself as a safe and competitive destination on the world map thanks to the Surf City strategy, promoted by the government of President Nayib Bukele. The arrival of athletes and delegations from more than 60 countries to Surf City El Salvador ISA World Surfing Games reaffirms the tourist appeal the country has gained in recent years.
The minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, explained that the key to success has been the coordinated work between various government institutions, which guarantees both safety and the quality of the experience for visitors. “Thanks to the fact that we now have security, these events have been possible. @ISAsurfing trusts us, and so do the surfers”, the official said.
Beyond the sporting spectacle, these tournaments have a direct impact on the local economy. The influx of tourists boosts commerce, boosts gastronomy, strengthens the hotel offering, and opens new employment opportunities in coastal areas.
ISA Executive Director Robert Fasulo emphasized that El Salvador offers unique conditions for high-level surfing: “We have nearly 300 athletes from more than 60 countries. Here we have good waves and the tranquility necessary to successfully host competitions, something not found in many places around the world”, he said.
