Health minister Francisco Alabi highlighted the progress made in modernizing the salvadoran healthcare system, marked by the incorporation of advanced technology into the public hospital network. During a television interview, he explained that the country is driving a transformation process that integrates medical innovation, new diagnostic equipment, and high-precision surgery to strengthen patient care.
One of the key advances highlighted is the introduction of state-of-the-art surgical robots in various hospitals. According to Alabi, this technology allows for greater precision during procedures, reducing surgical risks and promoting faster recovery. This equipment is already being used in general and orthopedic surgery, expanding the public system’s capacity to treat patients.
The official also detailed the implementation of high-tech microscopes for specialized surgeries, particularly in fields such as neurosurgery and ophthalmology. In addition, laser tools have been introduced in urology, enabling fewer invasive treatments with shorter recovery times, thereby improving the patient experience and medical efficiency.
Alabi also explained that the hospital network has been equipped with modern diagnostic systems such as computed tomography (CT), digital X-rays, and advanced ultrasound, which facilitate more accurate and timely diagnoses. This equipment strengthens the response capacity across various medical specialties.
Finally, the minister emphasized that this technological transformation represents a structural change in the country’s public health system by incorporating tools that were previously limited even in the private sector. He stated that the goal is to consolidate a more efficient, modern system with greater capacity to serve the salvadoran population.
