The Superintendencia del Sistema Financiero (SSF) has authorized the disbursement of the tenth layer of reimbursement for members of Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito Santa Victoria de R.L. (COSAVI), with balances of less than US$20,000. To date, 63.8% of members have been reimbursed, and it is expected that with this new layer, the percentage will reach 68%.
Superintendent Evelyn Gracias informed that savers will be able to withdraw their funds at the agency located at Calle Gabriela Mistral and 29th Avenida Norte, in San Salvador. The opening hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Withdrawals will be available starting wednesday, september 4.
Gracias also explained that those who had already had the previous layers enabled, but for some reason had not been able to withdraw their funds, will be able to do so on this occasion and urged members to keep informed through SSF’s official channels, as efforts are being made to provide greater agility in the process and possible changes in the measures adopted.
The SSF continues to evaluate the measures and options available to ensure that members receive their balances deposited in the cooperative as soon as possible. However, it warned that the recovery of the funds will take time because the money is invested in credits, which prevents an immediate recovery and that is why it has taken time to be enabling layers.
