With the aim of promoting financial education and highlighting the importance of habits and decisions in building personal well-being, SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO held the seventh edition of the Congreso del Día Mundial del Ahorro 2026, a day of learning and inspiration featuring renowned international speakers Yokoi Kenji and Daniel Urías.

The event was attended by more than 1,000 salvadorans, who gained new perspectives on the relationship between human behavior, money management, and leadership through two presentations that encouraged reflection on how everyday decisions can influence the present and the future.
The day began with a presentation by Daniel Urías, founder of Cooltura Financiera, titled “Irrational Money: The Tricks Your Mind Plays That Sabotage Your Financial Well-being”. During his presentation, he addressed the psychological factors and behavioral patterns that can influence how people manage their resources, highlighting the importance of recognizing them to make more conscious financial decisions.

Next, Yokoi Kenji, a social worker by vocation, delivered a message to the Hispanic community that evokes the need for holistic leadership in an emerging society. With a charismatic blend of ancestral wisdom and a constant pursuit of balance and innovation, Yokoi Kenji presented the keynote address, “Kintsugi: Holistic Leadership”, in which he shared reflections on discipline, purpose, and the ability to learn from experience. His presentation emphasized the importance of transforming challenges into opportunities for growth and strengthening the qualities that contribute to personal development and leadership.

During the congress, the importance of saving as a fundamental habit for responsible personal financial management was highlighted. This requires planning, discipline, and conscious decision-making to contribute to the financial well-being of individuals and their families. This reflection becomes more relevant when contrasted with the reality of the country: according to the Encuesta Nacional de Inclusión y Educación Financiera 2025, presented by the Banco Central de Reserva, 46.9% of salvadorans have a savings account, 23.0% have access to some type of credit, 22.4% have insurance, and the financial literacy indicator was 14.3, with the maximum national score being 21.

Faced with this situation, the SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO , with over 85 years of experience, brings its products and services closer to salvadoran communities through a broad network of over 850 service points throughout El Salvador. This contributes to financial inclusion and the expansion of banking services in the country through the various facets of our multichannel platform, which provides access to diverse financial solutions through its 47 Cajas de Crédito, 7 Bancos de los Trabajadores and 2 insurance companies. In addition, financial education is offered, accompanying access to these services with the knowledge to use them responsibly. This is further demonstrated through events such as the one held recently, which brought together more than 1,000 people for its seventh edition.
“At the SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO, we believe that financial education is fundamental so that salvadorans have better tools to manage their resources and make sound decisions”. “For this reason, for the past seven years we have been developing spaces like this congress, which allow us to expand our knowledge and reflect on habits that contribute to financial well-being”, said Claudia Abrego, Communications Manager at FEDECRÉDITO.

The seventh edition of the congress is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives developed by the SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO to promote financial inclusion and education. Through these activities, the institution seeks to provide the population with tools that contribute to enriching their economic knowledge and strengthening the culture of saving as a daily practice.

To promote this culture, the SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO offers products adapted to different stages of life, including Savings Accounts, Children’s Savings Accounts, Scheduled Savings Accounts, Women’s Growth Savings Accounts, and Term Deposits. These options aim to facilitate access to financial services and encourage more salvadorans to develop the habit of saving, organize their resources, and plan their economic future.
