Hábitat para la Humanidad El Salvador presented the art exhibition “Abriendo Puertas”, on november 3rd, an initiative that brings together national artists and partner companies to promote, through art, the programs the organization develops to support decent housing in the country. The artworks will be on display to the public from november 3rd to 10th at Vitrales, Santa Elena, where visitors can view them and place bids.

The event is part of the commemoration of de Hábitat para la Humanidad Internacional 50th anniversary and the global campaign “Abriendo Puertas”. According to the organization, the funds raised through bidding on the artworks will go directly to its housing programs in El Salvador, with the goal of helping more families access adequate housing.

The exhibition consists of seven artistically transformed doors, each inspired by one of the programs that Habitat El Salvador implements in the country. The pieces were created through collaborative work between artists and partner companies or institutions, with the aim of representing different areas of the organization’s work and demonstrating how collaboration can contribute to improving the living conditions of communities.

Among the programs represented are community development, in collaboration with Holcim and artist Sofía Mena; water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), with Frank Reed and Gaby Salaverría; and sustainability, with Inmobiliaria Sinaí and Joyce Mac Cormack. Also included are financing, with Solaire / Vitrales and Margarita Llort; volunteering, with Almacenes Vidrí and Beatriz M. de Lemus; security of tenure and legalization, with Portland Habitat for Humanity and Florence (FOA); and strengthening the housing system, with León Sol Arquitectos and Mauricio Mejía.

The executive director of Hábitat para la Humanidad El Salvador, Ernesto Tobar, emphasized that each piece represents a story of transformation and reflects the impact that partnerships between artists and businesses can have when working toward a common cause. He also noted that adequate housing can open opportunities for families to achieve greater stability, hope, and dignity.

The organization also invited the public to learn more about the artworks and their creators through its Instagram account, @habitat.sv, where videos of each artist are available. The exhibition will remain open until November 10, so those interested can visit Vitrales in Santa Elena to view the pieces and participate by submitting their bids.

As part of this initiative, Habitat El Salvador will hold its 2026 Gala Dinner, entitled “Building Together,” on wednesday, november 11, at 7:00 p.m. at the Hilton Hotel in San Salvador. The event will bring together partners, allies, donors, and artists in a space dedicated to recognizing the support of those who contribute to the organization’s mission and inviting more people to join its projects.

The suggested donation for the Gala Dinner is US$100, and proceeds will also go to Hábitat para la Humanidad El Salvador housing programs. Hazel Bolaños, the organization’s Resource Development Manager, explained that each ticket and each donation for the artwork represents an opportunity to support more families. Hábitat para la Humanidad El Salvador began its work in the country in 1992 and, since then, has served more than 69,000 families through initiatives focused on building homes, communities, and hope.
