The International Airport of El Salvador is preparing to handle an average of 17,000 passengers per day during the Christmas and New Year’s Eve festivities, according to Federico Anliker, president of the Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA). This flow includes departing, arriving and connecting travelers, both Salvadoran residents abroad and international tourists visiting the country.
As part of the New Year’s Eve Plan, in effect from december through january 15, 2025, the operational staff at the air terminal has been reinforced. More than 1,800 people from different institutions are working together to guarantee safety, comfort and efficiency in the service. This plan also seeks to minimize mishaps and ensure a satisfactory experience for users.
The measures implemented include an increase in the number of security agents and X-ray equipment at inspection points. In addition, daily inspections are carried out to ensure the optimal operation of the facilities. More than 150 members of the Academia Nacional de Seguridad Pública and traffic managers have also been incorporated to coordinate the flow of people and vehicles.
The airport has a specialized rescue and firefighting team of 68 aeronautical firefighters, four fire trucks, three ambulances, and medical personnel available. In addition, 2,100 parking spaces are available for users to facilitate the arrival and departure of travelers during this period of high demand.
These actions reflect the commitment of the salvadoran authorities to guarantee an efficient operation of the air terminal during the year-end season, when thousands of people choose El Salvador as their destination or transit point.
