The Instituto Salvadoreño de Turismo (ISTU) is preparing to receive 180,000 visitors in its 17 recreational parks during the end of the year holiday season. The president of ISTU, Eny Aguiñada, informed that this flow of tourists includes both national and international tourists. As part of the measures to guarantee a safe experience, security will be reinforced in all water parks, doubling the number of lifeguards in these facilities.
The influx of domestic tourists will be complemented by the arrival of 125,000 international visitors between december 21 and january 2. This figure represents an increase of 5% compared to the same period in 2023. In annual terms, El Salvador received one million foreign tourists in 2023, consolidating its position as a growing destination in Central America.
One of the key factors driving this success is the recent Next Big Destination Award, which positions El Salvador as one of the most promising emerging destinations worldwide. This recognition highlights not only the country’s natural attractions, but also the quality of service and attention offered to visitors.
In addition to attracting international tourists, ISTU parks are also a preferred destination for Salvadorans. During this season, local families take advantage of these facilities to enjoy recreational activities in a safe and accessible environment. The variety of aquatic and natural parks makes it possible to cater to the different preferences of visitors.
With this tourism boost, ISTU reaffirms its commitment to promote El Salvador as an ideal destination for national and international tourism. The combination of improved infrastructure, global recognition and warm hospitality translates into an encouraging outlook for the country’s tourism development.
