El Salvador’s exports in 2024 continued to be concentrated in the departments of San Salvador, La Libertad and Santa Ana, which together accounted for more than 98% of total exports. This was reported by Corporación de Exportadores de El Salvador (COEXPORT), based on data from the Banco Central de Reserva (BCR).
The report also revealed that 2,680 companies participated in export activity during the year, reflecting a slight reduction of 2% with respect to 2023. However, the sector remains dynamic and is looking for opportunities to expand into new markets.
In this regard, COEXPORT said that geographic diversification will be key to strengthening El Salvador’s competitiveness. Opening up to Asia and Central America is a promising strategy to reduce dependence on traditional markets and take advantage of new trade opportunities.
The export sector is also making progress in improving processes, innovation, and compliance with international standards. These factors will be decisive in guaranteeing sustained growth and expanding the presence of salvadoran products at the global level.
The outlook for 2025 points to the need to continue strengthening logistics infrastructure and promoting policies that facilitate foreign trade. With these efforts, El Salvador will be able to continue consolidating its position in the international market and generate more opportunities for its exporting companies.
