El Salvador and Peru have strengthened their commercial relationship with the signing of an agreement between the Corporación de Exportadores de El Salvador (COEXPORT) and the Asociación de Exportadores del Perú (ADEX). This agreement, established at the El Salvador-Peru Port Logistics Forum, seeks to optimize export logistics and facilitate the growth of bilateral trade.

The agreement includes an Annual Work Plan focused on key areas such as trade information exchange, technical cooperation, and institutional strengthening. It will also promote events and fairs to generate new business opportunities and improve the competitiveness of salvadoran and peruvian exporters.
In this context, both countries have resumed talks for the signing of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), a negotiation postponed for several years. This agreement would make it possible to diversify markets and facilitate trade flows, especially benefiting small and medium-sized companies in both countries.

In 2024, El Salvador imported products from Peru for US$85.3 million, including industrial plastics, grapes, and bakery products. In contrast, salvadoran exports to Peru reached US$29.1 million, including sugar, petroleum oils, and textiles. This exchange underscores the importance of optimizing logistics and eliminating trade barriers.
The president of COEXPORT, Silvia Cuellar, said that this alliance seeks to expand the presence of exporters in new markets. With this joint effort, El Salvador and Peru consolidate their trade cooperation, promoting economic growth and regional integration.
