The Tribunal Supremo Electoral (TSE) of El Salvador, within the framework of the Salvadoran Electoral Cycle, officially announced the Electoral Calendar that will govern the processes leading up to the elections on february 28, 2027, in which citizens will elect Deputies to the Legislative Assembly and Municipal Councils.

In a plenary session, Chief Justice Roxana Soriano and the magistrates of the Collegiate Body unanimously approved the key dates included in the calendar, with the aim of ensuring transparency, informed participation, and timely compliance by political actors, institutions, and the general population.


Key Dates of the 2027 Electoral Calendar:
• Address Update according to the Documento Único de Identidad (DUI)
October 8, 2025 – February 27, 2026
• Closing of the Electoral Registry
May 11, 2026 – October 30, 2026
• Official Call for Elections
September 30, 2026
• Candidate Registration and Electoral Propaganda Period
October 1, 2026 – February 24, 2027 (Legislative Assembly Representatives) November 9, 2026 – February 24, 2027 (Municipal Councils)
• Among other essential activities to ensure an orderly and democratic process.
With the approval of the Electoral Calendar, the Plan General de Elecciones (PLAGEL), is being developed. It includes 46 programs structured into logistical, technical, and operational areas, both nationally (24 programs) and abroad (22 programs), thus ensuring an efficient and inclusive electoral process.

The Tribunal Supremo Electoral reaffirms its commitment to promoting efficient, modern, and participatory elections, strengthening citizens’ confidence in El Salvador’s democratic system.
