As part of the commemoration of World Environment Day, the Fondo de Inversión Ambiental de El Salvador (FIAES) was recognized for its outstanding commitment to sustainability and environmental education in the country.

The award was presented during the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the UTEC Verde program, developed by the Universidad Tecnológica de El Salvador (UTEC), in recognition of its trajectory in promoting actions that promote the conservation of natural resources and citizen participation.
During the event, FIAES shared a message of congratulations to the UTEC Verde program team, motivating young people to persevere in the commitment to share knowledge, maintain energy and creativity to lead climate solutions to the country’s challenges.

Students and teachers also participated in the immersive experience of the Virtual Green Tour, getting to know different natural areas of the country. “We are sure that appreciating the natural beauty of the country will be an additional incentive to commit to environmental care from their professional work, because in FIAES we believe that investing in environmental restoration is investing in the positive transformation of life on the planet”, said Mariano Pacas, manager of programs and projects of the institution.
This recognition adds to an intense agenda of activities developed by FIAES during the environmental week, among which were: reforestation days in La Union and Sonsonate, in accompaniment to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, promoting the restoration of ecosystems; participation in BIOFEST 2025, organized by the Eastern Multidisciplinary Faculty of the Universidad de El Salvador, where representatives of FIAES gave a talk on the importance of the Lempa River and screened the documentary series “Reefs: our treasure beneath the waves”.
People were able to learn about the rich biodiversity of our country’s reef systems, as well as their relevance as sources of livelihoods for coastal communities.

Other recent actions
In previous days, FIAES held the Investment Forum for Climate Resilience, where beneficiaries, implementing partners and authorities of the institution provided information on the impact achieved through investment in restoration of green landscapes, agroforestry systems in coffee, fruit, and basic grains, as well as in resilient and low-carbon livestock.
At the event, the entity reported the intervention of 1,157 hectares in the Nahuaterique Conservation Area, Morazán; Golfo de Fonseca Conservation Area, La Unión; El Imposible-Barra de Santiago Conservation Area, Ahuachapán; and Cerrón Grande Wetland Conservation Area, in Cuscatlán and Chalatenango. TFCA funds covered 1.5 million; and with counterpart contributions from the implementing partner organizations, 1.4 million in value. Thus, the total investment amounts to US$2.9 million.

Through these actions, FIAES consolidates its role as a key factor in the environmental transformation of the country towards climate resilience, generating alliances and joining wills for ecological restoration and the strengthening of an environmentally conscious culture, through education and environmental awareness.
