The Finance and Special Budget Committee has issued a favorable opinion to reform the 2025 Budget Law, seeking to allocate US$725,000 to the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG). These funds are earmarked for the “Support for the Supply Chain of Agricultural Products for National Marketing” program, a significant step for the country’s economy.
This opinion, although favorable, represents an initial step; final approval depends on the vote of all legislative members. If approved, the bill seeks to strengthen the supply chain, promoting the direct marketing of fresh domestic products and benefiting both salvadoran producers and consumers.

Marlon Herrera, an official involved in the initiative, explained that the program includes a comprehensive logistics network for supply. It will include the collection of products directly from the farms of small and medium-sized producers, for subsequent distribution to the central supply center and agricultural markets managed by the MAG.

The proposed financial resources will be used to purchase essential equipment, such as cargo trailers, trucks of various capacities, and pickup trucks. Funding has also been provided for auditing services, ensuring transparency and efficiency in project execution.

One of the direct benefits of this initiative is the improvement in transportation logistics, which will allow for more agile and efficient transport of agricultural products. This optimized distribution will facilitate access to agricultural markets and the Central Supply Center for the population.

The implementation of this program is projected to reduce handling and distribution costs for producers, offering them more competitive prices. This will contribute to economic revitalization in agricultural areas, positively impacting rural development and general well-being.
