The Finance Commission has issued a favorable opinion for the reform of the Budget Law 2025. This amendment will allow the incorporation of US$5,815,000.00 from external loans destined to the Administración Nacional de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (ANDA).
These funds are allocated to the “Strengthening of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Sector in El Salvador” program. This initiative seeks to strengthen the water sector, with the primary objective of improving the continuity in the provision of drinking water services to the salvadoran population.

The Treasury delegate indicated that the resources will make it possible to reduce the levels of unbilled water and optimize ANDA’s energy efficiency. The acquisition of computer equipment to strengthen institutional capacity and modernize the distribution network is also contemplated.
With this investment, ANDA will be able to acquire machinery for cleaning wells and install monitoring and control systems. These systems will include storage tanks, extraction wells, and equipment for the central station in the northern zone, along with new technology.
The modernization program will ensure a sustainable water production and distribution system. This will make it possible to meet the current and future demand of the population supplied by the northern zone system, raising the quality of drinking water service.

In addition, a significant reduction in unaccounted-for water is expected through the sectorization and monitoring of the distribution network. This will not only improve operations, but will also contribute to an increase in ANDA’s institutional revenues.
