Within the framework of the Non-Reimbursable Technical Assistance granted by the DINAMICA II Initiative, the Centro de Desarrollo de Micro y Pequeñas Empresas (CDMYPE) of the Universidad Gerardo Barrios (UGB) launched the “Cajita Digital” platform, with the objective of strengthening business support and promoting a culture of technological innovation in micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in the eastern part of the country.

The initiative is the result of a joint effort between the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), the Government of Germany, through the KfW development bank, and the European Union. This launch marks the first step towards the creation of a Centro de Desarrollo Empresarial Dinámico (CDED) specialized in digital transformation, aimed at supporting MSEs to increase their productivity, competitiveness and innovation capacity.
Thanks to this project, the skills of nine CDMYPE business advisors and eight UGB students have been strengthened, who will provide systematic advice to companies using the digital tool. The focus is on providing strategic accompaniment in digital transformation processes tailored to the needs of the local business ecosystem.
The “Cajita Digital” seeks to be an effective solution to bring technology closer to small productive units, democratizing access to tools that were previously out of reach for many MSEs. This will allow entrepreneurs to optimize processes, improve their business models, and generate greater employment opportunities in their communities.
The project is part of the DINAMICA II Initiative, which aims to support new, young, and innovative entrepreneurs and MSMEs by promoting their growth through financing, technical assistance, and seed capital. The initiative also seeks to have a positive impact on regional economic development and poverty reduction.
In El Salvador, DINAMICA II has already benefited more than 2,800 MSMEs with loans more than US$14 million, and has provided non-reimbursable funds to 105 companies. It has also strengthened 12 Business Development Centers, supported 71 MSMEs through CDEs, and committed US$2.8 million in seed capital for 259 entrepreneurship and business development projects.
