The Instituto Salvadoreño de Turismo (ISTU) has revealed an ambitious goal for 2025, projecting that four million people, both domestic and international, will visit the public parks under its administration. This figure represents a significant increase compared to the previous year’s closing price, underscoring the country’s growing tourist appeal.

According to ISTU President Eny Aguiñada, the country has managed to attract more than three million visitors to date. This impressive figure highlights the success of tourism promotion strategies and the continued interest of visitors in exploring the natural and recreational beauties that El Salvador offers, marking a promising milestone.

The official emphasized the importance of this achievement, noting that the previous year closed with 3.8 million visitors, establishing a solid foundation for reaching the new goal of four million. This optimism is supported by the remarkable influx of visitors, demonstrating the dynamism of the tourism sector and its contribution to the national economy.
Although the Costa del Sol recreational park is closed for renovation, Aguiñada encouraged families to explore the remaining 17 national parks. This initiative seeks to diversify tourist destinations and ensure visitors have multiple options to enjoy their free time, strengthening the country’s leisure offering.

The Ministerio de Turismo (MITUR) reported that during the last August holidays, 2.8 million people opted for domestic tourism, a figure that reflects the boom in local visits. The most visited parks during this period were Balboa Natural Park, Amapulapa Recreational Park, Cerro Verde Natural Park, Apulo Recreational Park, and Ichanmichen Water Park.
