To boost the economic autonomy of salvadoran women, the Government of El Salvador has provided $304,189 in seed capital to women entrepreneurs. This strategic investment was made in two phases: $202,420 for 120 women who completed the “Mujer Emprende” program, and $101,769 for participants in the “Mujer y Negocios” program.

The capital will be allocated to entrepreneurships in key sectors for the local economy, such as food and beverages, textiles, poultry farming, services, handicrafts, tourism, and footwear. This initiative, managed by the Comisión Nacional de la Micro y Pequeña Empresa (CONAMYPE), the Instituto Salvadoreño para el Desarrollo de la Mujer (ISDEMU), and Agencia de El Salvador para la Cooperación Internacional (AGESIC), with support from the European Union and AECID, seeks to strengthen the competitiveness and development of micro and small businesses in the country.

The beneficiaries come from 13 municipalities in various regions, including Apaneca, Santa Ana, Colón, Jicalapa, San Martín, Tonacatepeque, El Carmen, San Esteban Catarina, San Luis La Herradura, San Miguel, El Tránsito, Jiquilisco, and Arambala. The provision of this direct financing to these entrepreneurs not only generates growth in their businesses but also contributes to poverty reduction and the financial stability of their families and communities.
