Eastern El Salvador continues to position itself as a strategic area for investment and development. With a US$16 million investment, construction began this thursday on Jagüey 128, a luxury residential project facing the Gulf of Fonseca in the department of La Unión, which promises to transform the region’s tourism and real estate landscape. The project will generate more than 300 direct and indirect jobs, strengthening the local economy and creating new opportunities for communities in the eastern part of the country.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by the heads of Ministerio de Economía, Ministerio de Vivienda, Ministerio de Turismo, and representatives from the Ministerio de Comercio e Inversiones, who emphasized the importance of this private investment, reflecting confidence in the direction El Salvador is taking.

During the event, Miguel Nasser, CEO of the Jagüey 128 project, emphasized that the initiative represents “not only the growth of this beautiful coastal area, but also confidence in the future of El Salvador. Today we lay the first stone of a building, but we are also certain that we are planting the first seed of a shared vision: to see this beach transformed into a new hub for tourism, residential, and economic development”.

The minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, highlighted the sector’s progress and the country’s growing appeal to visitors and investors. “It is exciting to see how El Salvador is progressing, and of course, the tourism sector. In 2024, we received 4 million international visitors; of these, 30% traveled to the eastern part of the country. We are seeing increasing interest from investors to establish their businesses here”, she said.

Likewise, Housing minister Michelle Sol highlighted the collaborative work to guarantee the comprehensive development of the region. “We are preparing the entire territory to improve the treatment of drinking water and wastewater. At the Ministry of Housing, we are also working on the development of social housing, because it is important to provide opportunities for residents”, they stated during the event.
The Jagüey 128 project stands as a symbol of confidence in the leadership of the President of the Republic and in the policies that promote private investment, sustainability, and territorial progress. With its vision of luxury, sustainability, and regional development, this new housing project will consolidate the eastern coast as a destination for investment and growth in El Salvador.
