A group of 40 women entrepreneurs and business owners participated in the forum “Women Innovating with Purpose: Technology and Alliances for Development”, an initiative aimed at strengthening women’s economic autonomy through the use of digital tools and access to new markets.
The event was organized by the National Commission for Comisión Nacional de la Micro y Pequeña Empresa (CONAMYPE), in coordination with the Agencia de El Salvador para la Cooperación Internacional (ESCO) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Instituto Salvadoreño para el Desarrollo de la Mujer (ISDEMU), the European Union (EU), and the Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AECID).

During the meeting, topics related to e-commerce, digital marketing, logistics, and virtual customer service were addressed—skills that currently represent a growth opportunity for small businesses led by women, especially in highly competitive environments.
As part of the economic strengthening process, the participants received POS terminals, support in creating websites, and six months of free internet access, which will allow them to expand their sales channels, boost their income, and strengthen the formalization of their businesses.

Spokespeople for CONAMYPE indicated that these tools will facilitate the adoption of electronic payment methods and the digital positioning of businesses; while representatives of international cooperation agencies emphasized that digital transformation is key to improving competitiveness and generating economic autonomy.

This type of initiative is part of the efforts to boost local economic growth from the ground up, by strengthening micro and small businesses, a sector that accounts for a significant portion of the country’s employment and productive activity.
