The number of tourism companies in El Salvador has grown significantly, reflecting the sector’s dynamism and the interest of investors and entrepreneurs in participating in the industry, said Alejandra Durán, director of the Corporación Salvadoreña de Turismo (Corsatur), during a recent radio interview.
Durán explained that the inventory and registry managed by Corsatur shows an increase in companies engaged in tourism-related activities, which strengthens the range of services on offer and improves the visitor experience. These companies are concentrated in five main areas: food, accommodation, tourist transportation, tourist information, and recreation.
Durán pointed out that one of Corsatur’s responsibilities is to maintain the Registro Nacional de Turismo, which companies can join easily and obtain benefits such as free training in different areas and promotion on the institution’s official website. “It is not difficult to join this registry that we maintain at Corsatur. Some of the benefits include free training in different areas and the promotion we do for companies”, he said during the radio interview.

Coordination to promote investment and business development
The director highlighted that business growth in the sector is the result of coordinated work with institutions of President Nayib Bukele’s government, including the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Economy. This coordination seeks to attract investment, strengthen tourist destinations, and generate opportunities for local businesses.
Durán also indicated that work is being done with entrepreneurs and communities to develop destinations, train sector stakeholders, and prepare staff with language skills, which contributes to increasing the competitiveness of salvadoran tourism companies.
Security and infrastructure drive business boom

The increase in tourism companies has been supported by the climate of security, investment in infrastructure, and improvements in the experiences offered to travelers. In 2025, El Salvador received 4.1 million international visitors, exceeding the target of 4 million projected by the authorities in the sector. The United States, Guatemala, and Honduras were the main countries of origin for tourists.
Tourism as an economic driver
The growth in the number of tourism companies reflects the country’s positioning in the international market and interest in learning about the transformation that El Salvador is undergoing. The government will continue to develop strategies to attract more visitors and strengthen industry, considering its impact on the economy and sustainable development.
