The honorary deputy minister of the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería of El Salvador (MAG), Óscar Domínguez, reported that the country currently has 128 active production areas as part of the Production Increase Program, promoted by the State.
Through his account on social network X, the official showed images of the work being done in these agricultural areas and explained that they are organized under a technified model that combines different cultivation systems to increase yields and ensure greater food supply.
Open-air production and protected environments
As he explained, the production areas integrate open-air crops with the use of high-yield seeds and specialized genetics, which improves the quality and quantity of the harvests.
In addition, planting systems are implemented in protected environments, such as greenhouses or mesh houses, which reduce the impact of climatic factors and pests, promoting more stable production throughout the year.

This mixed approach seeks to optimize available resources and reduce risks associated with adverse weather conditions, a key aspect in strengthening food security.
Agricultural technology and mechanization
The deputy minister also highlighted the incorporation of agricultural machinery and cutting-edge technology in these productive spaces. The use of modern equipment speeds up processes such as soil preparation, planting, and harvesting, increasing efficiency at each stage of the agricultural cycle.
The application of improved techniques and technological tools is part of the strategy to modernize the agricultural sector, increase productivity, and reduce operating costs for producers.

Boosting domestic production
The Production Increase Program aims to strengthen the country’s productive capacity, promote the use of higher quality inputs, and encourage more efficient agricultural practices. With 128 production areas in operation, the government seeks to expand the food supply, boost the rural economy, and generate greater opportunities for farmers.
According to the official, this model reflects the transformation being promoted in the agricultural sector, aimed at combining innovation, technification, and strategic planning to boost national productive development.
