The Comisión Ejecutiva Hidroeléctrica del Río Lempa (CEL) reported that it continues to carry out strategic works in eastern El Salvador through the Phase II project of perimeter roads around the reservoir of the Central Hidroeléctrica 3 de Febrero. This initiative aims to improve connectivity, strengthen road infrastructure, and boost the local economy in communities north of San Miguel.
According to the autonomous agency, the works are part of the commitments promoted by the government of President Nayib Bukele to bring development and better opportunities to different areas of the country.
The project includes the improvement of 34.5 kilometers of roads connecting communities in Carolina, San Antonio del Mosco, and San Luis de La Reina, directly benefiting more than 20,000 residents.
Works aim to improve mobility and access

CEL explained that the work includes road design and paving, construction of drainage systems, culverts and protective structures, as well as road signage. The institution highlighted that these actions would allow for safer, more modern, and more efficient mobility for families residing in the northern part of San Miguel.
In addition to facilitating vehicular traffic and access between communities, the work also aims to improve transportation conditions for commercial, agricultural, and productive activities.
Economic impact on communities

According to CEL, the project will have a significant impact on boosting the local economy, as it will facilitate the transport of materials, merchandise, and products between the communities involved.
Authorities noted that improved road infrastructure contributes to reducing travel times and expanding economic development opportunities for residents of the area.
The institution indicated that these works are part of a strategy aimed at integrating territories and strengthening connectivity in areas near the reservoir of the Central Hidroeléctrica 3 de Febrero.

Development and strategic infrastructure
CEL emphasized that the execution of this type of project seeks to strengthen the country’s strategic infrastructure and generate better conditions for communities.
“We continue to implement strategic infrastructure that integrates territories, boosts the local economy, and realizes our development vision”, the institution stated.
With these projects, the communities of Carolina, San Antonio del Mosco, and San Luis de La Reina will have improved access and connectivity, which will also facilitate traffic and mobility in the eastern part of the country.
