El Salvador has joined the Pax Silica initiative, a US-led alliance to strengthen cooperation in technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence with strategic countries. The announcement was made by El Salvador’s ambassador to the United States, Milena Mayorga, who emphasized that this step reflects the shared vision between both governments to promote technological development and attract investment.
According to the diplomat, joining Pax Silica represents recognition of the progress the country has made in areas such as the digitization of public services and the adoption of new technologies. She noted that El Salvador was one of the first countries to implement artificial intelligence tools to improve citizen services, a process supported by international specialists led by Stacy Herbert.
Mayorga affirmed that the country has become a regional leader in sectors such as health, education, data centers, nuclear energy, and financial security related to the use of Bitcoin—areas in which it seeks to continue attracting investment and technological talent.

During the induction ceremony, U.S. Under Secretary of State Christopher Landau said that El Salvador is building a robust technological ecosystem and that the signing of this alliance solidifies its position as a reliable partner for the United States. He said that this cooperation will open new opportunities to attract investment in technology and other strategic sectors.
The official also highlighted the affinity between the two countries in the area of innovation and affirmed that the salvadoran government has shown a consistent interest in the development of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, which strengthens the possibilities for collaboration.

The U.S. Embassy in El Salvador welcomed the country as a new member of Pax Silica and noted that the U.S. administration considers El Salvador a valuable ally in the Western Hemisphere. It also emphasized that policies focused on economic growth and innovation have contributed to strengthening the bilateral relationship.
With its incorporation into this initiative, El Salvador seeks to expand cooperation with the United States in technological matters, promote innovation projects, and create a favorable environment for new investments in high value-added sectors.
