As part of its commitment to strengthening small and medium-sized local agricultural suppliers, Walmart El Salvador held a training workshop for producers participating in its Tierra Fértil program. This initiative promotes the sustainable development of the agricultural sector through training, technical assistance, and marketing opportunities.
The workshop brought together 68 participants, who received specialized information from various Hortifruti departments. The goal was to strengthen communication and continue aligning production processes with Walmart’s quality and food safety standards.

Key topics for agricultural production were covered during the workshop, including human safety, key findings and opportunities for improvement identified in audits, climate outlook, Buenas Prácticas Agrícolas (BPA), Manejo Integrado de Plagas (MIP) and post-harvest protocols.
These updates allow producers to incorporate new knowledge and best practices into their crops, strengthening their competitiveness, the quality of their products, and compliance with the standards required to offer fresh, safe, and high-quality food to salvadoran families.

“At Walmart, we believe that the development of our suppliers is fundamental to strengthening local production. That’s why we promote ongoing training opportunities that allow them to update their knowledge, adopt best practices, and continue growing alongside us, offering fresh and safe products to our customers”, said Emmer García, Commercial manager of Fruits and Vegetables at Walmart El Salvador.
The Tierra Fértil program provides ongoing technical support to small and medium-sized agricultural producers, promoting more efficient and sustainable agriculture through specialized advice, continuous training, and stable, long-term business relationships.

During 2025, Walmart worked with more than 44 agricultural suppliers, benefiting more than 1,500 salvadoran families. With initiatives like Tierra Fértil, the company continues to promote responsible agricultural practices, driving sustainable economic development and strengthening the communities where it operates.
