The Embassy of El Salvador in Chile presented investment opportunities to over 40 chilean construction business leaders during an event organized by the Cámara Chilena de la Construcción, aimed at promoting projects and strengthening economic ties between the two nations.
During the meeting, the Salvadoran Ambassador to Chile, German Banacek Álvarez, outlined the conditions El Salvador offers for business development, including a stable macroeconomic environment and the incentives and facilities available to investors. The presentation placed special emphasis on projects related to tourism infrastructure and housing.
The event aimed to introduce the Chilean business community to opportunities in El Salvador and foster potential connections for the execution of investment projects. The Embassy noted that these outreach efforts seek to expand economic and commercial exchange and stimulate a greater flow of chilean capital into the country.

The drive to attract investment in construction comes amidst an expansion of this sector in El Salvador. According to data from the Banco Central de Reserva (BCR), the construction sector attracted US$83.1 million in foreign direct investment during the first quarter of 2026, reflecting its role in attracting capital for productive activities.
This performance is complemented by growth in construction activity. Data from the Secretaría Ejecutiva del Consejo Monetario Centroamericano (SECMCA) indicate that the sector recorded year-on-year growth of 9.5% through june 2026. This trend boosts opportunities for new projects in housing, infrastructure, and tourism.

For El Salvador, promoting the country to chilean firms offers a way to broaden its base of potential investors and seek new projects that generate capital, economic activity, and jobs. The strategy also aims to position the country as a destination for foreign companies interested in developing construction projects in the region.
Engagement with the Cámara Chilena de la Construcción and its member companies also opens the door to establishing business contacts that could eventually lead to concrete projects. For now, the session focused on presenting the investment conditions and opportunities available in El Salvador, particularly in the housing and tourism infrastructure sectors.
