The salvadoran government has invested US$197,830.20 in the construction of housing for veterans and former combatants of the armed conflict. The new houses were delivered in the Calle Nueva canton, in Guazapa, San Salvador Norte, through the Instituto Administrador de los Beneficios de los Veteranos y Excombatientes (INABVE). This investment is part of the Housing Construction and Improvement Program, which seeks to improve the quality of life of those who gave part of their lives in the service of the country.
During the delivery ceremony, the president of INABVE, Juan Ortiz, highlighted the relevance of this aid. “You are going to be able to get to your homes without asking anyone’s permission, or paying rent. It is important to clarify that these houses are the first we built with our resources, directly, without intermediaries”, said Ortiz, noting President Bukele’s commitment to support this sector.
To ensure the quality of the houses, the beneficiaries received complete technical assistance, from the preparation of plans to the necessary soil studies. The process included the preparation of land deeds, architectural design and development, structure, electrical and potable water installations. All this in an effort to provide a safe and comfortable home for the veterans.
One of the beneficiaries, María Elena González, expressed her gratitude: “Thanks to President Bukele for giving us this opportunity. Thanks to all the team that has been in this project, architects and engineers who have fought in this project”. Each house, with a value of more than US$30,000, has a living-dining room, kitchen, two bedrooms, bathroom and laundry room, the necessary for a dignified life.
With this action, the government fulfills its commitment to support veterans and people with disabilities affected by the armed conflict, thus demonstrating its support in their struggle to improve their living conditions and dignify their sacrifice for the country.
