Legislative Assembly publishes list of candidates for the Court of Accounts

The Legislative Assembly has published the list of 18 professionals seeking the positions of President, First Magistrate, and Second Magistrate of the Court of Accounts of the Republic (CCR), as part of the selection process for the new authorities of El Salvador’s state auditing institution.

Among the candidates are the current officials of the institution: President Walter Salvador Sosa Funes, who began his term on February 7, 2025; Magistrate Julio Guillermo Bendek Panameño, who has served as both Second Magistrate and First Magistrate during two separate three-year terms; and current Second Magistrate José Rodrigo Flores Ramos, who was sworn in three years ago. All three will complete their terms on August 27, 2026.

During the current administration, led by President Walter Salvador Sosa, the institution has promoted a modernization process aimed at strengthening government oversight and institutional efficiency. Among the main achievements are the creation of the Anti-Corruption Directorate, the enhancement of the Electronic Notification System, and the elimination of the historical backlog in audits. As a result, the Court of Accounts is currently conducting audits corresponding to the 2025 fiscal year, improving both responsiveness and the timeliness of oversight processes.

Following the close of the application period, the next stage of the process will be overseen by the Political Commission of the Legislative Assembly, which is responsible for conducting the selection procedure and proposing candidates for the positions of President, First Magistrate, and Second Magistrate of the Court of Accounts of the Republic.
