El Salvador celebrates a historic growth in the tourism sector during 2024, achieving the arrival of 3.9 million visitors between january and december. This figure represents a significant increase over previous years, consolidating the country as one of the most attractive destinations in the region. Since 2019, when it received 2.6 million tourists, growth has been remarkable, with a crucial post-pandemic recovery point in 2021.

The report reveals that 50% of tourists accessed the country by land, while the other half arrived via international flights. This equitable balance highlights the importance of both routes to the tourism economy, boosting both border trade and air connectivity to international markets.

Compared to the 3.4 million tourists registered in 2023, the increase to 3.9 million in 2024 demonstrates the success of tourism promotion strategies. Investment in infrastructure and security has played a crucial role in attracting visitors.

El Salvador has positioned itself as an attractive destination thanks to its diverse offerings, which include surfing beaches, volcanoes, archaeological sites, and a vibrant cultural ecosystem. This boom in tourism not only benefits the sector, but also boosts other sectors such as gastronomy, hotels and local transportation.

With these encouraging figures, the Salvadoran government has reaffirmed its commitment to continue strengthening the tourism sector. Projections for 2025 aim to exceed 4 million visitors, betting on new international promotion strategies and alliances with the global industry.
