El Salvador and South Korea took a significant step toward strengthening cooperation in the agricultural, academic, and scientific fields by signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Escuela Nacional de Agricultura (ENA), Centro Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria y Forestal (CENTA) and Universidad Nacional de Kyungpook, one of South Korea’s most prestigious higher education institutions.
The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adriana Mira, reported that this agreement was made possible through collaborative efforts and the promotion of partnerships by the Agencia de El Salvador para la Cooperación Internacional (ESCO).
The signing ceremony was held virtually and included the participation of authorities from the signatory institutions, as well as representatives from ESCO, who emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
The memorandum aims to promote the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices in areas related to agriculture, scientific research, and technological innovation.

Among the key components of the agreement is the scientific and technical exchange between specialists, researchers, professors, and students from the participating institutions. It will also promote the development of joint research projects and the creation of new technological solutions aimed at strengthening the agricultural sector.
The agreement also includes the creation and implementation of studies, academic programs, and bilateral training activities, which will expand training and specialization opportunities for salvadoran professionals and students.
Authorities indicated that these types of international partnerships contribute to strengthening the country’s technical and scientific capabilities, facilitating access to knowledge and technologies that can be applied to improve the productivity, innovation, and sustainability of the agricultural sector.

Furthermore, they emphasized that cooperation with internationally renowned academic institutions creates new development opportunities for research and the training of specialized human talent.
With the signing of this memorandum, El Salvador continues to expand its international cooperation ties and promote initiatives that foster knowledge transfer, technological development, and the strengthening of agricultural education—elements considered key to the growth and modernization of the national agricultural sector.
