
The electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning sector registered the largest percentage change within the Índice de Precios al Productor (IPP) during april 2026, rising from 133.76 in march to 139.09 in april, equivalent to an increase of 3.99%, reported the Banco Central de Reserva (BCR).
The BCR noted that another sector with significant monthly growth was transportation and storage, whose index rose from 117.89 to 119.11 between march and april 2026, reflecting an increase of 1.03%.
According to the institution, the overall PPI index also showed a change during the analyzed period, rising from 137.29 in march to 137.71 in april, representing an increase of 0.31%.
Among the economic activities that showed increases were manufacturing industries, which advanced from 142.33 to 142.54, equivalent to 0.15%.
Likewise, accommodation and food services activities increased from 157.99 to 158.20, for a variation of 0.13%.
Information and telecommunications also showed an increase of 0.06%, rising from 121.08 to 121.15 between the two months.

Real estate activities reflected a slight positive variation of 0.01%, increasing from 127.83 to 127.84.
In contrast, some sectors registered declines during april compared to march 2016. Water supply, sewerage, waste management, and sanitation activities fell from 123.70 to 123.21, equivalent to a decrease of 0.40%.
Administrative and support service activities also declined, falling from 134.11 to 133.40, representing a drop of 0.53%.
The education sector remained unchanged, maintaining an index of 153.06 in both months.

The same stable performance was observed in human health and social assistance activities, which remained at 125.46, as well as in professional, scientific, and technical activities, which remained at 102.22.
Arts, entertainment, and recreation activities also showed no change, closing at 144.75 in both march and april.
