The Legislative Assembly approved, with 56 votes, an amendment to the 2026 Budget Law that will reallocate US$54.75 million from available funds in the Ministry of Finance to the Ministries of Health, Tourism, and Economy.
These funds will be used during the second half of the year to address priority needs in each of these areas, primarily related to healthcare, strengthening tourism, and promoting investment and productive innovation.
The largest amount, US$50 million, will be allocated to the Ministry of Health. These funds will ensure the availability of medicines, medical supplies, and vaccines, as well as contribute to maintaining the provision of medical and laboratory services in the public network.

Part of these resources will also be used to carry out preventive maintenance at health centers, with the aim of keeping the facilities where services are provided to the population in adequate condition.
The Ministry of Tourism will receive US$2.75 million, which will be allocated to strengthening various initiatives within the sector. These include the National Surf City Strategy, the National Tourism Plan 2030, and the Institutional Strategy for Specialized Tourist Destinations.
These resources will allow for the continued development of actions aimed at strengthening the country’s tourism offerings, improving destinations, and supporting established strategies to boost the growth of this economic activity.

Finally, the Ministry of Economy will have US$2 million to finance strategic actions related to facilitating investment, productive innovation, and digital transformation.
In total, the reform includes the redistribution of US$54.75 million from available Treasury allocations to these three ministries, so that they have additional resources to address their main needs during the second half of 2026.
