As part of its strong commitment to development and innovation in El Salvador, Nestlé is proud to support the Delta Experience Europe. This investment mission, organized jointly by the Ministry of Economy, Invest El Salvador and Impact Hub, took place in Lisbon, Portugal, from november 11 to 14, 2024, with the objective of connecting salvadoran startups with a global environment of innovation.
The Delta Experience Europe represents a unique platform to position El Salvador in the global technology and entrepreneurship ecosystem. The salvadoran delegation, composed of members of the public and private sector, as well as representatives of startups, had the opportunity to interact with more than 100 investors and leaders of the European technology sector, offering a space to strengthen partnerships and promote economic growth. More than 50 salvadoran startups benefited from key opportunities to attract investment and consolidate their international presence.
The startups selected to represent the country included: Fruto Infinito, Boxful, Kazu, Jobbi, Vitrinnea, Diimo, NICO, Mercandú, Vertex, Weris, Ábaco, Flixplan and Dating, who had access to important industry players and invaluable knowledge exchange.
As a private sector sponsor, Nestlé El Salvador highlights its continued support for the growth of the entrepreneurial ecosystem. The company has implemented for more than a decade the program ‘Initiative for Youth’, designed to promote youth talent and support entrepreneurship, impacting more than 15,000 young salvadorans through various actions and projects.
As part of this initiative, Nestlé launched the “Innovatón: Reto Culinario El Salvador” contest in 2022, aimed at young entrepreneurs, offering seed capital, specialized mentoring and promotional opportunities. During the 2020-2021 period, the company organized the Innovatón throughout Central America, with more than 2,000 participants. In El Salvador, the 2022 competition registered more than 1,000 entries and awarded more than US$50,000 in seed capital, in collaboration with more than 25 multi-sector partners.
Nestlé’s support for Delta Experience Europe is part of its global mission to drive support for the innovation ecosystem, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Participating in this event reinforces Nestlé’s position as a company committed to employability and the promotion of youth talent in the country.
The Web Summit, one of the most relevant technology events in the world, brought together more than 70,000 attendees, 2,300 startups and 900 investment funds. This meeting provided El Salvador with a platform to strengthen its profile in the field of innovation, with the goal of attracting more than US$5 million in investment, bringing salvadoran talent to the center of the global stage.
“At Nestlé we strongly believe in the potential of young people to transform their communities and the world. Supporting Delta Experience Europe is a sign of our commitment to innovation and talent in El Salvador, creating opportunities for young people to access essential resources for their development”, said Andrés Calatroni, Country manager for Nestlé El Salvador.
