The Centro Nacional de Registros (CNR), closed 2024 with the creation of 6,000 new companies, an unprecedented figure in El Salvador. This was highlighted by the Executive Director of the CNR, Camilo Trigueros, who emphasized that this successful closing is thanks to the Intellectual Property Law. This regulation seeks to simplify the processes and strengthen the protection of the rights of entrepreneurs and businessmen.

Before, salvadorans had to consult different laws to register patents and works, which made the process difficult. Now, with a unified legal framework, the process will be more agile and accessible, explained Trigueros. In addition, the CNR has modernized its services, allowing applications to be filed online, both inside and outside the country.
The government seeks to encourage the growth of key sectors through intellectual property. Trigueros emphasized that the new law will facilitate the formalization of businesses and strengthen legal certainty for investors and entrepreneurs. This is expected to have a positive impact on the country’s economic and commercial development.
The boom of the Sociedades por Acciones Simplificadas (SAS) has been a determining factor in this growth. According to the CNR, most of the new companies are focused on the service sector, reflecting the economic transformation of the country. This type of company allows entrepreneurs to set up businesses quickly and with lower administrative costs.

In addition to the digitalization of procedures, the CNR has worked on improving response times to adapt to the dynamics of commerce. “The challenge was for the CNR to advance at the pace of the economy”, said Trigueros, noting that these changes will attract more investment and strengthen the Salvadoran business ecosystem.
