The Administración Nacional de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (ANDA) yesterday unveiled the modernization project for the “Tanque 800” booster pumping station, located in the San Rafael Oriente district of the San Miguel Oeste municipality, representing an investment of nearly US$400,000. The upgrades will allow for increased pumping capacity to higher-elevation areas and boost water production for local users.
The project was presented by ANDA President Dagoberto Arévalo, who explained that the works would benefit the districts of San Rafael Oriente and San Jorge. The initiative was part of the institution’s efforts to gradually improve potable water service across various sectors of the country’s eastern region.
According to Arévalo, the project involved drilling a well and installing electromechanical equipment to strengthen the plant’s operations. Work was also carried out on the pumping system, infrastructure improvements, and electrical system upgrades.

The executed works also included the installation of an electrical substation to improve the plant’s operating conditions. These combined interventions aimed to increase the system’s capacity to meet water demand in the beneficiary areas.
During the handover ceremony, the ANDA president noted that the project addressed the priority of improving the population’s access to potable water. He explained that modernization would enable a greater volume of water to reach sectors located in higher-elevation areas.
Arévalo also highlighted that this project complemented other initiatives undertaken by the government in the eastern region. Locations mentioned included Tecapán, San Alejo, California, and Santa Rosa de Lima, where measures had been taken to gradually improve potable water service.

The official stated that these works were carried out after years during which, he noted, various areas had been neglected by previous administrations. In this regard, it was stated that the modernization of the Tank 800 Repumping Plant represented another initiative to strengthen the water supply in the eastern region.
With the completion of this project, ANDA aimed to increase water pumping and production capacity for users in San Rafael Oriente and San Jorge through infrastructure that included a new well, electromechanical equipment, electrical upgrades, and modernization work at the plant.
