The Banco Central de Reserva (BCR) has alerted the public about the circulation of fake content on digital platforms that uses the image of its president to spread information not issued by the institution.
In a public notice, the bank explained that it has detected material generated using artificial intelligence that employs the image of the bank’s president to lend an appearance of legitimacy to publications and messages that are not part of the BCR’s official channels.
The institution emphasized that the information disseminated in this content lacks official status and urged citizens to always verify sources before sharing or considering any publication related to the Banco Central de Reserva as valid.
According to the notice, the fake publications are circulating in various digital formats and attempt to appear as legitimate news or interviews. Given this situation, the BCR reiterated the importance of consulting only information published through its official channels to avoid falling victim to disinformation.
In addition, the entity made its WhatsApp number, 7125-6737, available to the public to answer questions and clarify doubts related to information attributed to the BCR.
The BCR reiterated that verifying sources is a fundamental tool to combat the spread of fake news, especially in a context where the use of artificial intelligence allows for the creation of increasingly sophisticated content that is difficult to identify at first glance.
The institution urged the public to stay informed through official channels and to exercise caution before sharing posts whose origin or authenticity has not been verified.
